Yule Cards for 2006

Filed under: Stamping - Turtleheart @ 6:27 pm

Here are this year’s cards for Yule:

For the red card, I used white enamel heat embossing powder over white ink on plain vellum paper. When the image cooled, I turned the vellum over and colored in the back of the image with stamping markers. I edged the vellum with “Victorian” scalloped scissors. I attached the vellum to the cardstock by using eyelets and then threaded the eyelets with satin ribbon.

Here it is in green:

Same process as before, only this time I used pewter embossing powder instead of white enamel. I also used some metallic rick-rack instead of satin ribbon. The green card looks much more elegant in person, the picture doesn’t do it justice.

For the inside of the cards I used a stamp that read “Peace, Love, Joy, Hope” in different fonts. I stamped it red ink on white paper for the red cards and green ink on white for the green cards, and edged the white paper with the “Victorian” scissors.

House Mouse Madness

Filed under: Stamping - Turtleheart @ 10:14 pm

I can’t help it. House Mouse stamps are utterly too cute. So I recently made these cards:

Okay, I think I’ve gotten it out of my system. At least for a little while.

Valentine 2006

Here’s what I came up with this year for Firehand’s Valentine:

I can’t help it, I just love the House Mouse series of stamps, even though they are soooooo cutsie.

Making this card was also a good excuse to finally get to play with my eyelet setter that my Tribemate got me for Yule. I love it! Must use often!

Firehand heard me pounding away in my craft room, setting the eyelets, and was calling me “Rosie the Riveter”. LOL. Gotta love that man.

Past Valentines

Filed under: Stamping - Turtleheart @ 6:24 pm

Just so you don’t think that all I do is crochet–

I found some Valentine’s from past years that I made for Firehand. He’s so sweet, he always keeps the cards I give him.

These are pretty simple and plain. I’m starting to experiment more with patterned papers and the like now; hopefully my technique will improve.

I have a card in the works I need to finish for tomorrow.

Now That’s What I Like

Filed under: Stamping, Chatter - Turtleheart @ 11:27 pm

I went to the craft store yesterday looking for more paint for a distressed shelf project I have yet to finish. It seems that it was my lucky day– the paint was on clearance sale and they still had the colors I needed!

Along with a few other items…

Stamps were HALF OFF. I found 2 House Mouse stamps I couldn’t resist. Normally I don’t do “cutesy”, but I capitulated this time.

Awwwww… Don’t you just feel all warm and fuzzy inside? I know I do.

Also for HALF OFF– a new crochet book, “99 Granny Squares to Crochet.” I’m fascinated with how many different ways one can design a granny square. Also, they’re a good way to use up leftover yarn!

Speaking of yarn, I also got some of *that* for a project I have in mind for my Tribemate. Sadly, it was not half off.

But all in all, I was pretty pleased getting 3 out of 4 things for half off. Now thats what I like.
